학교 소개
서식스대학교(university of Sussex) 는 영국 잉글랜드 동서식스주의 브라이튼 인근에 있는 공립 연구중심 종합대학교 이며, ‘1994그룹(1994Group)’ 창립 회원입니다. 1994그룹이란 1994년규모가 작은 톱(Top) 19개 집중연구 대학들 중심으로 최고의 연구와 교수법을 개발하기 위해 설립된조직입니다.
영국 런던의 일간지인 <가디언>에 의해 2011년 영국 내11위 대학으로 선정되었으며 영국 내에서 미국 연구 분야는 1위를, 정치학 분야는 2위를, 예술역사 분야는 3위를 기록할 정도로 연구활동의 90% 이상을세계적으로 인정받고 있습니다. 창의적 사고, 다양한교수법, 학제간 연구(Interdisciplinarity: 어떤대상을 연구할 때 서로 다른 여러 학문 분야에 걸쳐 제휴하여 참여하는 연구)를 연구의 기본 방침으로삼아 학생들을 교육합니다.
2021년 타임스 고등교육평가의세계대학평가에서 160위를 QS 세계대학평가에서는 246위에 올랐으며, US뉴스&월드리포트의2020년 세계대학순위에서는 164위, 유럽 대학 중에서는 68위, 영국대학 중에서는 20위로 평가됐습니다.
