학교 소개
레스터 대학교 (University of Leicester) 는 영국 레스터시에 있는 연구 중심 공립 대학이며 메인 캠퍼스는 도심에서 남쪽에 있는 빅토리아 파크 인근에 위치하고 있습니다. 1921년 레스터 & 러틀랜드 유니버시티 칼리지 (Leicestershire and Rutland University College) 라는 이름으로 설립됐고 1951년 종합 대학교로 승격됐습니다. 레스터대학교는 영국의 주요 연구 중심 대학교로 보건과 문화, 사회, 환경 등의 분야에서 우수한 연구 성과를 내고 있습니다.
3개 단과 대학을 통해 350개 이상의 학위 과정을 제공하고 있고 학제간 연구에 중점을 두고 있습니다. 레스터대학은 유전자 지문을 발견한 대학으로 유명합니다. 이어 리처드 3세의 유해를 발견하고 신원을 밝혀내면서 언론의 주목을 받았습니다.
